The term 'Kwon Bop' is the Korean pronunciation of the Chinese ideograms we pronounce in America as Kung Fu .   Some Korean Kwans taught Kwon Bop before the unification of the Kwans into Taekwondo.

Essentially, Kwon Bop is various Shaolin arts infused to one degree or another with the Korean mindset ,the Hapkido/Kuk Sool type arts and the Karate arts of Okinawa

Because of this background Kwon Bop schools differ greatly from very Taekwondo looking to very Kung Fu looking.Even students in the same school can fight completely different.

What is common is that the Kown Bop Kwans teach a fighting art.developed in a rough and tumble time ,when your fighting skills protected your life and your can of beans. Kwon Bop kwans teach comprehensive self-defense systems that incorporate the dynamic kicking and punching generally associated with Tae Kwon Do/Karate with a multitude of joint-locks and throws,(Like Old Karate/Kempo) designed to break bones or disassemble joints.
